The Amarnath Yatra is an annual Hindu pilgrimage to the Amarnath Cave in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The cave, located at an altitude of 3,888 meters (12,756 ft), is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva revealed the secret of immortality to his consort, Parvati1. Devotees undertake this arduous journey to pay obeisance to the Holy Ice Lingam during the months of June to August.
